One-pot Sausage Casserole

 Great served with a side of roast potatoes

One-pot Sausage Casserole

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil - 18p                                                                                   

1. Preheat oven at 200C/180C fan/Gas mark 6.

  • 8 sausages of choice - £2.20
2. Heat oil in ovenproof casserole dish over a medium heat and add stock cube to jug of warm water.
  • 1 medium red onion (diced) – 20p
3. Add sausages to dish and cook until brown on all sides. Remove from dish and place to one side.
  • 1 large carrot – 9p
4.  Add onions and carrots to dish and cook until starting to soften.
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika – 4p
5. Stir in paprika, herbs, beans, tomatoes and stock.
  • 1 tsp mixed herbs - 16p
6. Re-add sausages to dish, ensuring they are mostly submerged in sauce.
  • 400g can butter beans (drained) - 50p
7. Bake in oven for 25 minutes
  • 400g tin chopped tomatoes - 50p
 
  • 1 stock cube of choice - 8p
 
  • 100ml warm water

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil – 9p
1.       Heat oil in large pan over medium heat.
  • 1 large brown onion (diced) – 12p
2.      Add onions to pan and cook until starting to soften.
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed) or 1 ½ tsp garlic graduals- 3p
3.     Add garlic, paprika and mushrooms and cook until mushrooms have softened.
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika – 4p
4.    Stir in stock and bring to a gentle boil. Cook until sauce has thickened.
  • 500g mixed mushrooms (chopped) £4.50
5.   Remove from heat and stir in sourced cream and parsley.
  • 1 stock cube of choice - 8p

  • 2 tbsp cooking oil - 18p
1. Heat oil in large pan over medium heat.
  • 1 large brown onion (diced) – 12p
2. Add onions to pan and cook until starting to soften.
  • 1 tsp fresh or dried chilli (to taste)  – 2p
3. Add chili, garlic, ginger, garam masala, tomato puree, sweet potato and chickpeas
  • 2 garlic cloves (crushed) or 1 ½ tsp garlic graduals- 3p
4. Stir in tomatoes and bring to a gentle boil.
  • ½ tsp ginger powder – 2p
5. Reduce the heat and cook for 20 minutes (until sweet potatoes have softened)

6.  Stir though spinach and coriander and cook until spinach has wilted

3.       Add garlic, herbs and tomatoes and cook for 20 minutes until sauce thickens

4.       Meanwhile, cook the pasta as per pack instructions

5.      Drain the pasta and mix into the tomato sauce before serving

2.       Add the onion, peppers (and mince) and cook until peppers have softened and onion has started to golden (and minced has browned)

3.       Stir in the garlic and spices.

Ingredients                                                        Instructions                                                    
  • 200g pasta - 26p
1.       Preheat oven at 180C/160F/Gas mark 4.
  • 50g butter  or  spread - 14p
2.       Begin cooking pasta in pan of boiling water.
  • 50g plain flour  - 2p
3.       Add butter, milk and flour to a saucepan over medium heat and whisk until mixture boils.
  • 500mls milk - 75p
4.       Reduce heat and whisk until sauce is thick and smooth. Stir in most of the cheese (save a handful for later)
  • 50g cheddar cheese - 40p
5.       Drain the pasta and mix in sauce, tuna, sweetcorn and peas.
  • 2 x 145g tin tuna (drained) - £1.10
6.      Add to oven proof dish and sprinkle over remaining cheese
  • 200g tin sweetcorn (drained) - 45p

  • 2x 420g baked beans - 44p
3.       Add stock cube to 700mls boiled water.
  • 1 large carrot (chopped) - 5p
4.       Add vegetables, herbs, stock and Worcester sauce to meat.
  • 1 brown onion (diced) - 10p
5.       Stir in beans
  • 2 large potatoes (chopped) - 50p
6.       Transfer to ovenproof dish and cook on middle shelf for 3 hours (or 1-2 hours if using alternative to diced beef)
