Internal wall insulation
The Home Upgrade Grant can fund Internal wall Insulation for properties with an EPC rating of D, E, F and G and which do not have gas central heating.
If your property meets the above conditions then you can apply if you have a household income of less than £31,000 per year or if you live in an eligible Post Code area (no proof of income required)
Key points to consider:
- Cost
Internal wall insulation is generally cheaper to install than external wall insulation - Floor Space
Internal wall insulation can slightly reduce the floor area of a room. The thickness of the insulation is around 100mm - Requirements for fitting
Can be disruptive to daily life as work is needed inside, however, this can be done room by room and will require skirting boards, door frames and external fittings to be removed and reattached - Consider wall fittings
Installing internal wall insulation can make it hard to fix heavy items to inside walls - although special fixings are available - Checks beforehand
Note that any existing problems with penetrating or rising damp need to be fixed first
